The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) was established in 1992 with the core mandate of training competent professional teachers for all levels of education as well as conducting research, disseminating knowledge and contributing to educational policy and development in Ghana. It runs a number of academic programmes under various departments, one of which is the Department of Art Education, which has spearheaded the training of Art and Design Educators in Ghana since the past 25 years.
