Hugo Haddad is a multimedia visual storyteller based in Brumadinho, Brazil. His research looks for different ways to unite new technologies and popular traditions in projects that have low environmental impact. Haddad studied fine arts and graphic design, after that he went to São Paulo and spent more then a decade in filmmaking projects that involve artists from all around the world, becoming an award-winning director with investigations of different social realities like of refugees & immigrants, of modern slavery and hacking urban spaces.
After going back to his hometown, Brumadinho, a place hugely affected by the mining companies, he started a long term exploration following the traces and the effects of iron extraction in the country side of Brazil. He is also directing his first feature film about Brazilian Indigenous Astronomy.
