Robert Dick & Julia Wiegand, Pathmaker, Robot, sensor, pen, cork, wood, wood glue, screws, Velcro fastener, 2023
The robot is a small typewriter and at the same time a participatory work of art. It interacts with the recipient via sensors by sensing its environment and reacting to stimuli. Technology and art merge and create new possibilities for interactive experiences.
The combination of technology and creativity makes the artwork unique. A special connection between humans and robots is created as the typewriter interprets the movements of the viewers and implements them in a unique way. An artistic vision of the recipient's movement is brought to life. They can actively participate in the creative process and express their own ideas in the form of lines through the robot.
Gender matters! The aim of the typewriter is to highlight the interaction between humans and robots. In this joint interaction, a message is designed: Create your own path, regardless of your gender. This message is a unique element in the interaction between humans and robots. We envision a society, a world, where all humans are free and equal and can create their own path, regardless of their gender. The title frames the artwork. It stands for all the paths that can be imagined. You as an individual, you are the pathmaker.
