In her work, Lauriane seeks to offer moments of escape from the difficult experiences of everyday life. As a result, most of her work, delicately crafted in mixed media, depicts faces with an expression of depth and fragility that echoes the delicate situation of young women in society.

Biography

Born in Douala, Cameroon, in 1994, she has had a passion for art from an early age. After obtaining her Certificate of professional aptitude in secretarial and office automation studies at the Technical High School of Nylon in Douala, she decided to train in the plastic arts at the Institut de Formation Artistique de Mbalmayo (IFA), where she obtained an AF1 baccalaureate in ceramics. After the IFA, Lauriane continued her studies at the Department of Arts and Archaeology at the University of Yaoundé 1, where she obtained a Master's degree in Visual Arts. Throughout her university studies, the artist also explored the professional framework of art in Cameroon, participating in workshops and group exhibitions with other artists.

 

Since then, Lauriane has taken part in a number of creative residencies and exhibitions, as well as participating in and winning prizes at visual arts festivals and competitions. In 2023, she won the Cameroon Creativity Awards in the painting category. In the same year, she took part in the Goethe-Institut Discovery Prize in the visual arts category in Cameroon, and was also a prize winner. In 2022, she won the first woman artist residency organized as part of the "Art of Inclusion" international cooperation project promoted by COE, an Italian NGO and co-financed by the European Union. Her most recent exhibitions are Horizon intérieur in 2023 at LABA and Annie Art Day at Galerie Annie Kadji in 2022 and in Douala then Art in the gard in Yaoundé; Extase at La Terrasse and Dynamique lyrique at Quartier Mozart sous in Yaoundé in 2020. In 2019, she took part in the first edition of Douala Art Fair at the contemporary art center doual'art in Douala.
