Interpretion by Isadora Canela
Astronomical clock of the Brazilian Guarani people. The solar and lunar clock is composed of stones arranged to mark the seasons, solstices, equinoxes, moon phases and cardinal points. The object is found with many similarities in native peoples all over Latin America. For the Guarani people it has a practical meaning that governs village life, such as planting, hunting and harvesting seasons, and also a spiritual layer that connects with the rituals of each season and time of year. In Guarani tradition the sun is the greatest God and all nature is connected to its signs, therefore the object is a sacred symbol of cycle and continuity.
