What is the meaning of the nation for today’s society and how is it lived out? What landmarks and elements of collective memory determine its meaning? What are the challenges facing Cameroon as a nation? This exhibition explores the universe of artists and translates the sensitive and conceptual introspection of the collective memory expressed in their aesthetic production. It aims to bring into dialogue two voices on the subject of collective memory: that of the artists who explore this theme through their work, which will be presented at the exhibition, and that of those providing a critical interpretation of a set of images that reference this memory, selected within the framework of the image library workshop, held in Douala in 2019. This image library echoes the transnational and interdisciplinary project Exploring Visual Cultures, a major objective of which is the consolidation of cultural foundations through essential education for sustainable development and global citizenship.
