AI - Arts - Education: Call for Papers

AI - Arts - Education: Call for Papers

Call for papers

Dear colleagues, contributors and friends of EVC,

Last year, EVC made  AI - Arts - Education  the focus topic for 2024. Throughout the year, students at our partner universities worked on an exhibition on this theme. The analog version of the exhibition was shown in Nairobi in November 2024 (link). There, EVC cooperated with the Technical University of Kenya in organizing a major international conference on "AI and the Cultural Sector" (link). You can also view this as a virtual exhibition on the EVC website (link).

Following the conference, EVC’s Expert Panel decided that the discussion on "AI - Arts - Education" is a worthwhile and relevant topic and was worth exploring the theme further. Therefore, a task team consisting of Flora Mutere (Kenya), Juste Constant Onana Amougui (Cameroon), Ekow Abraham (Ghana) and Ernst Wagner (Germany), lead by Kyle Rath (South Africa) and Lydia Muthuma (Kenya) was established. We are excited to announce that the group has initiated the publication of a special section of the South African journal, Image & Text, where selected, pertinent conference papers from the conference will be published as a means to archive and also distribute crucial findings of the conference and to further develop the discourse.

With this in mind, we would like to invite you to submit the abstracts from your conference paper for consideration for publication in Image & Text. Attached, please find the Call for Papers. Please note the important links at the end (abstracts and papers that do not meet the editorial and author guidelines of the journal will not be considered). Please send your abstract to Kyle Rath (kyle.rath@up.ac.za) by April 30.
